This is a most useful and spacious black leather bag used by enginemen to hold their gear, which today can include rulebooks, clothing, tools, cameras and sandwiches. Made in England, of good quality leather with rivets to strengthen the seam ends, strong carrying handles and stout buckles.
The design has been updated with the handles now having an integral wrap over grip that holds them together, and stops them flopping on the floor as the originals do. Rivets now have smooth heads on both ends, thicker leather is used and the bag is about 15% heavier.
More durable plastic internal stiffening is fitted in place of the original card to help it retain its shape through years of use. The metal corners have been eliminated, as these were not always fitted originally.
Size is 16” x 6” x 13” high.
